Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her first Broadway roles, she played her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her role in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in a Play. Annaleigh Ashley Tony Award winning actor and actress has collaborated with directors and actors on stage and screen for the entirety of her professional career. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. It will also be available in the form of an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be seen as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who produced Hamilton directed the show. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main character in Ryan Murphy's new FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment proceedings in America for more than a century. She starred in two seasons on the cult CBS comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. A veteran of Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. She has also been in Broadway on Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for an Tony Award. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford currently splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
